FTE: Why?

Why take a system that was enjoyable and easy to use and make it dificult? I enjoyed the posting based on a last posted, last updated top of the list arrangement. Can't find a darn thing now, the old posts archived by alphabet, I think. I tried to get some help from FTE but only got a criptic and non instructive response of less than 10 words. I wanted to be a member of FTE, but if this is what it has become I think that it won't be of much use to me. Somebody convince me is it worth it to join now? I hope that I can find my post to see if anyone answers. Feel free to e-mail me with tips.

FTE: Why?

Owning and running a 18,000 + member board myself, I can tell you that there will always be the "I liked it the old way" bunch who'll belly ache anytime something changes. Get over it

Okie, asking a simple well spelled question is hardly "belly aching". The questions I asked were reasonable based on the fact that I am considering becoming a "Member" I did notice that you are not, why? You may run 18000+ something you may not, I don't know. Your testimonial, OK I accept it as the truth but irrelevant. Must not take up to much of your time or you would not have the time to not answer questions about something maybe that doesn't conern you. (Wow a quadruple negative!) But I do know what I like. That translates into customers knowing what they like. Vendors of any type that consider their customers questions belly aching are at the least missing sales, sales equals profits. Additionaly, your diatribe did not answer any question only made broad statements. So I will ask it again, in simple words just for you but I would like an answer from FTE. FTE:Why?

I am over it how about you?

Are you looking for an archived post or just having trouble going through the active topics?

If you having trouble monitoring the active posts, just click on the column header that you want the posts sorted by and the active posts are sorted by that column (i.e. if you want them sorted by last updated, click on the last updated column. If you want them sorted by topic, click on that column.).

If your usability concerns are with the archived posts - I can't help (sorry!). With all of the great information available in the active posts, I haven't had time to go there.

Hope this helps!

The system is displaying things in that your because you told it to, not because we changed anything.

At the top of each forum section there is:

Discussion Topic
Author
Last Updated Date/Author
Replies
Rating

Click on any of these and the sort order changes to what you clicked.

You complained about us changing things when nothing has changed, this is a classic case of open mouth, insert foot.... :-) . The sort order function has worked that way for nearly 3 years.

Ken, I opened my mouth and asked (wrote) a question. You have answered it. It seems that I should change some settings that I did not know how to do. Thanks for the tips, that was all I wanted in the first place. It seems that there is an attitude here, you included, that in order to be helpfull you just have to gouge a questioner a little. Punishment for the question? I will try harder to know things that I don't know, discern the incomplete and be a good boy with no questions for the grown ups to be bothered with.

One more thing, the tips worked. I did not know that the sort feature could be changed and had no idea what had happened when it came up all mixed up. Thanks Gary, and Ken, got it going on now.

Man, lighten up. Didn't you see the smile next to what I said? I was ribbing you, not gouging you. From our perspective, you complained about how we were ruining the site, making it hard and unenjoyable yet we hadn't changed a thing.

It was open mouth, insert foot, and it was slightly funny ... learn to laugh at yourself now and then. Hell, I laugh everytime I see myself naked in the mirror!

If we meet up, maybe we can sit down for a steak and shoot the breeze? :-)

It's def. not my place to reply to this thread at all... however, I do own and run a board > ( http://dirtrider.net/forums3/ ) and the way your "question" was put just struck a nerve. You made a lot of negative statements before getting to your "question". I do see the "this sucks, tell me why I should like it" from time to time

Apologies.

As to why I haven't become a member yet? I joined a month ago, give me a chance man LOL.

Ken, thanks again. I would like to meet up sometime. It would be my pleasure to buy you that steak. I do need to lighten up, here and elsewhere. I have suffered from exagerated responsibilities most of my life and as a matter of personality, training and occupation I am always hyper serious. Others not similarly afflicted sometimes are offended by what my wife calls "a razor sharp tongue". I appologise. I enjoy the posts so much I was disappointed when I suddenly couldn't find posts by last update. Knowing how to make the changes I am back to my old sunny self ...
Now that I have that out of the way I want to become a FTE member, I live in Central Alabama, travel extensivly and might see you at a FTE meeting.

You should start by telling us what ya drive. Then we can get you to start modifying. It's like a rite of passage, you know.

I screwed up the "sort" thing about a year ago. It took me several agonizing tries to figure how I screwed it up. Finally got it figured out. DUH! The 'ol "been there-done that!"

Mil1ion, it seems to be OK now. Thanks. I tried out the FTE Online Join feature, it has been off line for a few days. Is this another one of those the joke is on me things?
I would like to join. If it is a paper application thing now fax it to me at (205)815-1901 and I will fax it back.
