I read the post about "ornery kid" and it reminded me of something that happened to me long ago. I was a soph in high school and a real wiseass. One day the teacher had enough and sent me to the principal. He bent me over a desk and gave me one hard lick with a paddle. Then he said that every time I was sent to him he would double the number of licks. Well, the day he hit me 16 times I thought I would die. With the prospect of 32 licks looming, I was a really good kid for the rest of the year. They can't do that now, but it sure shaped me up.

It's a shame they don't still do that today! I remember getting my butt whacked quite a few times when i was in school. Todays kids get away with too much! They need to bring paddeling back most of what i see in schools today i would need a TON of paddles :-X23

Their argument is that when padded, it can make the individual more violent over their life. I don't see that, maybe they have evidence, but I think they should bring it back too. The world is starting to get out of control.
