I have A 2000 f-350 psd the truck has diesel 911 in the tank and fuel bowl I also replaced the filter. The fuel bowl gets plenty of fuel but the truck won't start it just coughs and sputters and when it runs for 30 seconds or so it's incredibly noisey and rough. I also have it plugged in, and the tach does work so I don't think it's the cps. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated as snow is due Sunday and I need this truck for plowing.
First, make sure your high pressure oil pump resevoir is full. I'd also put a battery charger on it to make sure your batteries are fully charged.
Then I'd make sure your fuel lines aren't jelled up. If you dumped in the fuel additive and haven't run the truck since, the fuel could be setup between the pump and the injectors. You might try a drop light sitting on top of the engine for a few hours with the hood closed to warm the top of the engine. Warming the engine will probably be the key factor in getting it to run.
If your getting it to run momentarily, I'd say your glow plugs are working. You could use WD-40 as a starting aid so it fires up a bit easier.
It's alive!!! I tarped the whole truck and ran a 150,000 btu reddy heater just in front of the passenger side wheel sorta aimed towards the tank and front of truck and let it run for 3 hrs. Melted everything and really warmed the engine too, I also ran jumper cables to my other truck and she fired right up. I think it was a combination of fuel gelling and not enough volts to fire the injectors after all it only got to 2 degrees today.
I just want to thank everyone for all your ideas and advice if it wasn't for this forum my truck probobly wouldn't be running till April. Thanks and good luck. Eric
