I sprayed some clearcoat on a peice of black plastic on my car to see if it would make it look better. The black plastic trim has been turning white. Armor All helps for only a short time with liberal applications. The clearcoat still looks fine several months later. Would it be wise to apply clearcoat to the rest of the plastic trim? Is there any other treatment that would work?
Just tell your jobber what you are doing. I painted my sons ATV and it looks fine after a few months. Bulldog will help it stick and some urethanes like a flex agent, not all the one I used on the quad did not need it. If you clean the plastic well, very well! wipe it with a good prep cleaner or plastic prep then use the bulldog (it is clear) the clear it you should have no problems and it will last a long time.
If the trim is turning white then I think you have wax or other contaminant on it, try a wax remover and clean the trim well then throw the armor all in the trash can where it belongs and get a good silicone based product. Stoners more shine less time is good but there are others at the parts store that work.
