Insurance companies DO NOT report anything to Carfax- accidents show up on Carfax from police reports, which are public records. Unless there's a police report involved (or a salvage title was issued), you won't know if the vehicle's been involved in an accident from a Carfax report.
On the Explorer I was going to buy, I saw the miles had been rolled back because in the state of CO, they list the miles when doing the emissions testing!
