any pet owners?
Man, that drunk must have really been speeding to knock the gas truck over like that!
ATST- that puppy is so cute. Man is he going to be big!
. And i'm sure we can through my sis in there somewhere. That's it at my house!a 10 year old Black Shephard/Chow/Lab mix, named "Buddy" that I got from the pound when she was about 6 weeks old. They were going to put her down and I couldn't have that.
and a 3 year old Boston Coon Cat named "Kit" (cat) that I found in my garage about 2 years ago. She was cold, hungary, and about to have kittens. She had 4 kittens named Magellon, Columbus, Marco, and Polo.
All are doing fine. The kittens have new homes with friends.

We have two goldens Mom & Son. They are definately a major part of our family. They go everywhere, and love going as much as we do! Thats another reason for having the Expy. My Expy hasn't seen the back (3rd) seat since it was purchased.

I had a Rotty pup at one time, and Desert Storm happened. I never did get off of shore duty, but in all of that I had to find another "Bossman" for a very bright one year old...
She (Rosanna Rosannadanna- after Guilda Radnors character on Saturday Night Live) was trained by me in the "silent speak". I read her expressions, and she learned my hand signs. We used to walk trail in the canyons around San Diego, and when strange things happened around the house in Mira Mesa - she was better to have around than a firearm.
We were a team, and would have gotten much better.
But I know she has a good family (still), and so I just look forward to the years to come.
It's sad, but the best thing we can do for our pets sometimes is to wait for the right time to have them. A time when we can be there for them, and make the most of not only the little ones, but our part in it as well.
I will be a part of a team again someday. And what-all that means I can't really explain very well...
It's just something that came naturally to me a long time ago.
PS: If I can find a picture of "Rose" I'll post it here
Until your post this thread never really touched the training and time aspect. It took us years before we had the time and space for our dogs, I really think it is important. I know way too many people who get dogs, and then turn them into backyard ornaments, pretty sad.
Even though our family leads a very busy life, we have committed ouselves to giving the proper attention to our dogs. I have spent many hours training both of my dogs (they are also trained by a series of whistle, silent hand, and verbal commands). This training enables us to take these dogs anywhere, without worrying about what trouble they will get into. Training is important and has many benefits.
Besides the wonderful companionship and devotion they give they also provide many hours of helpful, strange, and sometimes funny wonders. When you misplace anything while you are out they will find it, if you loose anything in the water they will fetch it, need a firepit they will dig it, need firewood they will carry it, need a rock they will bring one, need a watchful eye for your children they are there.
Our dogs are very much a part of our family and our daily lives. I hope everyone enjoys their dogs as much as we.
Greywolf when the time is right you will have another. Remember...good things come to those who wait...

Never trust someone whose feelings smell funny...
Dig a lot, it's good for your claws...
People sometimes don't know what they really want. Give them time and help them...
If your people get mad at you, try very hard to love them anyway. They probably didn't mean it...
People think sounds are the best way to communicate. Humor them in this...
It doesn't really get cold in the yard at night, but a good brushing makes up for it anyway...
Little humans bite worse than puppies, and should be avoided for that reason at times...
Never pee on the newspaper...
No matter how bad our humans feel, we should try our best to make them happy. Because they seem to have a problem with letting go of stuff they cannot change...
Two legged ones are not always as fast as we are, but they are stubborn and go long distances...
Be alert for the words: "Leash", "Walkies", "Outside", "Food", "Thirsty", "Water", and "Come See"...
Always watch out for your human, because they don't always know what is good for them...
Humans are not fuzzy, but they are warm, and good to snuggle with at night...
Every human has "sunshine" inside. Try to bring it out...
Be there for them. If you are lucky - they will be there for you, but try anyway...
That's what Bailey does.
That's what Lucy does.
