I've posted on this before. But, my stearing wheel is crooked.
Pluss i have a lot of slack on my stearingwheel. LIl to much IMO.
I noticed that the Ujoint for the stearing. Just a lil makeshift Ujoint basically is kinda worn looking.
So i'm thinking of replaceing that. I'm hopeing that takes out some of the slack. And the fact that there is more tension on one side of the stearing wheel then the other. The other way is free floating or turns the wheel to easly if you move it in the floating area. The otherside you can feel the stearing tension.
Anyways.
I'm just curious if anyone knows of a way to adjust the stearing wheel so its not crooked. without getting a front end alignment. Its a pain in the *** to drive with a crooked stearing wheel.
My uncil made mention that there might be an adjustment on the stearing motor. But he wasn't positive.
Try counting the number of turns you have from stop to stop. turn back half the way, that should be center. You should be close to where your wheel should be. Have a front end alignment shop tweek the final setting. If you have air bags, turning the wheel to far will damage the clock spring. You can center the wheel with the tie rod adjusters on the bottom of the truck by turning equal amounts, on the left side and the right side, but it might throw the toe in adjustment out of spec.
