I have an 87 model F-150 two wheel drive and have a couple of questions. First is where can I find an inexpensive way to level the front end with the rear? The wheels and tires I currently have on my truck scrub in a godd dip or bump in the road. Not really a problem but very annoying. Second is what should the normal oil pressure run in a 351w with stock everything except a towing cam. Any info. would be appreciated.

I think (been awhile since I had a 80 series) you can remove the front springs and shim the lower perches (the big cups with a big bolt/nut in the middle) with some big washers. This should be good for about 1 to 2 in max. Any more and you will need to change springs. In any event, your camber will go positive and you will need an alignment. I would expect 50-75 psi @ 2000 RPM for a tight engine.

Thanks Ecuri. The spring idea sounds good, but the oil pressure is questionable. When the engine was rebuilt about 6 months ago it would idle at around 80 psi. Now it varies. Running down the road it stays about 70 psi, but when I stop at a sign or light it drops to around 20 psi. Is it the new oil pump going bad already, or what else could cause it.

hmm...351s should be around 40-60psi at idle when warm. Next time break up your questions..put the engine question in the engine forum and the suspension question in the suspension forum. I suggest you head over to the engine forum w/ that..and leave this one alone.

Yes this is the wrong forum,but i'm not going looking for you somewhere else. I respectfully disagree with out moderator. Here's why: Oil pumps bypass arount 75PSI. So some engineer decided that this was the max we needed in our engines. (I am talking generically here). Making more FLOW than you need to make 75 PSI at whatever max RPM is a waste. (This is why I think HV pumps are a waste of HP, but lots of people use them anyway.) So, FoMoCo thinks 50 PSI is a min at 2000 RPM, idle is around 750... 750/2000X50= about 18. Use upper limit of 75 and you get about 30. Your 25 at idle is right in the middle. Your oil pressure is fine and is supposed to vary with RPM. A new engine is so tight it takes a while for the running tolerances to be established.. new builds always start with an abnormally high pressure and then wear in to typical. The only oil pressure number I have ever read published in a book is the one I quoted you from Clymer (who I'm sure took it from FoMoCo.)
