I have a 2004 F350 6.0l PSD, crew cab, 4x4, Lariat, etc. I have only 13,000 miles on it. I am currently running BF Goodrich All Terrain 295R7516's on stock wheels. When I am doing 40ish mph it shakes/vibrates terribly. I have had the tires/wheels balanced, rotated, etc. Took to the dealership and they said truck was fine but right rear tire was out of round. Tire shop replaced right rear tire and the vibration was worse. Tire shop now says that maybe running tires bigger than were originally on truck may be causing it? I don't buy that, anyone have any suggestions. I am thinking about buying another set of tires to prove the tire shop wrong. Can I run 315R7016's on stock wheels? I look forward to your input. Anyone had the same problem?
I have it also. It happens between 45 and 50 w/stock tires on a 2wd. It seems to come from the rear in a bounce like feeling. I took it to two dealers and they cant feel it. Since you can feel every little ding in the road, you have to be use to the truck to be able to tell the difference. In most cases it comes from the rear drive shaft where the carrier bearing needs shimmed. Since they cant find any problem with mine, they cant do anything. Its there every time when I do it.
I also have the same condition I feel the vibration at 51 mph did a run out on tires and they passed and also did a runout on the rotors they were also good. the feeling i am having is a hop coming from the front not really the rear.If it matters the truck is a 4x2.
Have a Friend follow you down the hi way and see if any of the tires are bouncing, or the front end shimmy's, If the front end is the problem, there is a bracket for a steering stabilizer shock, If you complain to your dealer thy should put one on. there is a broadcast message for this issue. I will try to post the link.
I had this problem (Amongst many others) in my 98 dodge 2500 4x4. Dealer said it was tires, tire shop said it was the truck. I went thru 5 sets of tires on that sucker and was never able to fix the problem (all at no cost to me) . Dealer put the truck on the hoist started it up and put it in drive..That truck almost bounced off the hoist! Then he popped the 4 tires off and did the same thing. ran smooth . From that he concluded it was tires out of round. Sets 3, 4, 5 were better than 1, 2...I was running goodyears and apparently they are bad for that truck. Who knows. Bottom line, I could not fix the problem. You should have seen the kids shake in the backseat as we drove down the highway..they hated it.I got rid of it for the Ford...which drives like a cadillac in comparrison, and the kids love the extra space in the back.
