98 4.6 locked up

I just bought a 98 F-150 with a locked motor. Planning a rebuild. My question is do I need the key with the chip to start the vehicle? I have seen alot of talk on here about keys with chips. My truck only came with plain Jane metal key.

97-98 trucks did not have the PATS key.

So U should be fine !
