New 2004 Conversion Warranty Problem?

Am picking up new F-150 next week and would like to put on split pipe dual exhaust. Anyone know if I would have warranty problems if I do so? Also, recommendations on what to get?
Thanks,
Doug

Welcome to the site!

Ford does not (at least they haven't in the past) care about cat-back exhaust systems.

Recommendations are based on sound and peoples' individual perceptions of what sounds "good". I recommend that you search here and on the Internet for sound clips of the different manufacturers. Also, don't forget to visit your local muffler shop and see what they have to offer!

If you're concerned about warranty, you could always have the dealer put it on. I don't think they'll void the warranty if they put it on, but I'm not sure, you'll just have to ask. The only thing about going to the dealer is that they usually have a lot higher prices than the other local shops. Anyways, just ask around and I'm sure you'll find something that suits your needs.

I used to do alot of cat back duals for the ford , chevy, and dodge dealers in anchorage , truck and cars ,brand new right off the showroom floor. as long as it is after the cat ,it doesnt effect warrenty or emissions, bob

This is taken from the Truck Performance site:

"No properly installed product on your vehicle will void your original vehicle manufacturers warranty. However, if you experience a problem with an uncooperative dealership point out the provisions of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty - Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act. For more information call your vehicle manufacturer or click on the link above to go directly to the Federal Trade Commission's website to find out about this law.

It has been established that a dealer may not deny warranties for new vehicles, unless the warranty claim results from the installation of specialty equipment. In fact, warranty-related materials published by the new vehicle manufacturers state that the installation of aftermarket parts have no effect on the warranty unless such equipment causes the warranty claim. Nonetheless, some dealers have improperly denied warranty claims even though the claim had nothing to do with aftermarket parts.

SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) is very interested in hearing about any cases that have gone to court and any opinions that have been issued from courts on this issue. It is their hope that they will be able to use these court opinions to encourage the vehicle manufacturers to properly instruct dealers on the appropriate circumstances for denial of warranty claims. If you are currently having issues with a dealer over a warranty claim, please contact us for SEMA’s contact information on this issue."

Magnaflows installed with dual pipes out the back end, 3" tips. Looks great and sounds even better. Now hoping for some mileage increase. Thanks for your inputs.

Mileage increase is minimal with only a catback. If mileage is truly youre ultimate goal, youre best bet would be a performance computer chip. The Diablo chip (sold here on the FTE store), seems to be the best chip on the market. That is going to be my next purchase for my truck.

Thanks Rich,
I don't know much about the computer chips. Any warranty problems with installing one?

From what I have read, there shouldnt be any warranty issues. If you are interested, youre best bet would be to post in the Computer Tuning forum. The webmaster of FTE (ken payne) is actually the one who does all of the chips. There is a FAQ in that forum as well that *should* answer most of youre questions.
