What do you think....

I was about to order this but thought I would check with the guru's first. This will be going in a 2004 F-150 SuperCab. I needed a 5" or less thick sub to fit in the under rear seat box. This is what I was about to get:

Rockford Fosgate 1050S 265.2Wx2 @ 4ohms
Kicker Comp Subs 03C104 10" 4ohms
Kenwood KDC MPV 622 Receiver
Scosche EFX wiring kit - 4 guage wiring
and all necessary hardware, wiring harness adapter, dash kit ect for $905.25

What do you think?

If you can find one. Go for an old school kicker competition. =D

I like those a little bit better then the new kickers. Seems like they put more love in them.

i'd get better subs, get at least CompVR's man... i think you'll overpower those Comps easily. That amp is gonna rock the socks off those poor lil 10s.

otherwise, looks like a nice system

sounds like a plan, i have a lot of good 10" subs but i cant think of any that are 5" deep or less.

id like to suggest a different amp, perhaps a JBL BP series or any mono block amp. everything else seems solid.

PS: u following me?? lol...

About the only other suns I can find that are 5" or less deep are the cheap line of Rockford Fosgate and some MTX's. Do you know of anything else?

Solobaric 8's... and Ill bet they will hit harder than the comps... Also theres Alumapro, Audio Mobile, AVI, Blaupunkt, Bostwick, CDT, Cerwin Vega, Coustic, Crystal Mobilsound, Diamond Audio, DEI, Hart, Image Dynamics..... you get the idea. Each of those brands I know has 10's that are 5" or less. 8's would be easier to fit maybe... also they would need a smaller box if you will be building it yourself.

DUDE, the box is already made. I would be buying it from subbox.net . You can get either, 8,10,12 but none come with speakers

Metal. Depending on where it has to go, a premade might not fit.
SO makeing one might be his only choice if he has to make custom curves or bump outs to fit a spot in the truck...

He could make a large sub useing 4 or 6 small subs basically. and run stereo sound too it. Which would be sweet. Have to build the right box and get the right engineering in there. You will get that full range. But it wont' be terrably loud.

Talyn the box is made by a company to fit under the rear seat and downfire. There is a few guys here on the site that have them and they say they fit great.

I am just having trouble finding a good quality speaker to fit in it. They cant be more than 5" thick. And thats hard to find in a 10"

OPTICAL ... I am kinda new at building systems and what I thought was wouldnt I want a 2 channel amp since I only wanna run one amp and have it connect to 2 speakers bridged to get maximum performance from it instead of a mono amp?

the bass line in music is a mono signal, or at least you want it to be. it should be strong and steady and back up the mid an high frequencies. also, bass is a non-directional frequency meaning the wavelength is so long that it will fill the vehicle without going in one particular direction. its kinda hard to explain but its the reason why you want your tweeters and mids pointing towards your ears and subs can go in the trunk or fire downwards under your seat. ok, back to the amp. you really dont want your subs to be playing off two different channels, meaning they will recieve two different signals, meaning they could be playing at different times. you want them in sync with each other to get a tight strong bass line. now a 2 channel amp can be bridged to 1 channel, but for a good system with good bass this isnt the best way. and thus comes the 1 channel monoblock amp. nearly all mono amps are made to run subs. most are 2 ohm or even 1 ohm stable giving you options when wiring the subs to get the absolute most from the amp without worrying about the being damaged. also many mono amps are class d. these are much more efficient for bass than a standard class a, b, or ab amp. generally amps do not put out as much power as they are advertised to do. for bass, an ab amp would put out about 30 - 40 % of its potential while a class d asmp of the same size would put out about 70 %. however a class d cannot play mid or high frequencies. bottom line: mono class d... great for bass. stereo class ab... great for directional frequencies (mid, high). Hope that helps without bein to confusing. someone please correct me if im wrong.
my 2 cents
