Here's a quote from the Cato Institute, that might draw some comment:
"Where is the dignity in a tax code that treats Americans like so many gerbils - do this and you get sugar water; do that and you get an electric shock? The 40,000 pages of social engineering in the IRS code should be an embarrassment to Congress. And both conservatives and liberals are to blame. The IRS prints more than 1,100 forms, instructions, and other publications. We need to finance the federal government in a manner everyone can understand, and that means a low, simple, flat tax. We need to eliminate the double taxation of dividends and other obstacles to savings investment, and economic growth."
