Need to Id if it's possible to replace the non-telescoping but power mirrors with telescoping and still have the power component work? Tech guys at local dealership said they can't be swapped out (maybe he was refering to telescoping with power and heat). Saw replacements on fordpartsmall.com and fordpartsonline.com that would make it appear they could be swapped out.
While I'm at it, any way to swap them with heated ones (not sure how wiring works, one guy said they were wired to the defrost settings, sounds not quite right).
Would have been nice if trunk came from factory with them, but was all I could get off lot.
I just replaced the power aero mirrors on my '99 with telescopic power towing mirrors. They were not OEM mirriors but they are aftermarket copies of the Ford towing mirror. The instalation was flawless. The onlly problem is getting to the plug that connects the wires for the power option. It required removing the door panel and the door speaker to get to the plug. This is not that complicated.
I am probably sure that the plug on a heated mirror would most likely be the same, just with an added wire. (there is space for it) However, if your truck doesn't already have the provision for defrost mirrors, it won't do you any good.
