hello... i have a 98 F150 and i've always lived in florida with warm weather and i am now in canada... much colder... the past month my battery has been going out on me... this morning my truck wont start at all.. how do i know if its my starter or if i need a new battery?? is this always gonna happen in the cold weather?? thank you
If you still have your original battery it is now 5 years old. That's OLD for a battery. And yes, cold does take life out of a battery. So yes, just replace your battery and your truck will be fine.
Just why in the HECK would you move from sunny Florida to snowy Canada? Are you nuts?
lol thats funny... yeah im rethinking it now... thanks.. but what kind do i get.. do i need a special cold weather battery etc?? i dont wanna get ripped off
Well in battery-speak it's all about cold cranking amps. The more the better is a good way to think about it. If you get a battery that has 750 cold cranking amps you'll be fine. I don't know if they have any Autozone's in Canada or not but they are a pretty cheap place to get batteries and they install them free. I checked on line and they have a battery fro your truck for $54.99 USD.
My fact battery only lasted me 2 years.
there is on top of batt a clear piece to look thru, should be green.
mine was red- bad.
I when to napa and got biggest batt i could.
Important note- my battery had a plastic cover over it, when removed i found small batt.
When i put a bigger (real) battery in, i threw away plastic part because it's a fake cover to make think ya got a real battery!
