Question Engine Vibration

I'm noticing an increase in vibration in high gear under a slight load at certain RPM's. I've heard some of you talk about a newly engineered support bracket for the torbo to eliminate some of the harmonic vibration when the turbo is spooling up. Anyone have any additional information on this matter?

Gents,

Are you refering to the "flutter" lag from the turbo at 1800-2200 RPM or a vibration from the engine, confused with the post?

There is however a compressor fan mod that can be installed reducing some vibration, flutter from the trubo, and give you a liitle lower end umph. It's offered by piers diesel in WA. I've already done it and it's probably the best least expensive mod I've done.

If your machanically inclined, it takes about 3 hours because the turbo must be removed, well worth the $75.00 spent.

Increase Airflow
Lower Exhaust Temperatures
Increase Low-End Throttle Response
For use in 1999 - 2003 Ford Power Stroke's with 7.3L diesels.

Check the balence of the front wheels. Goodyear will charge you $15 to rebalence. Make sure they do a high speed.

If thats not the case, the drive shaft could be out of balance. Same annoyance I had.

I brought the X too my local drive shaft balancer and low and behold it was off, big time. All we did was knock of a couple of weights and it was perfectly balanced with-in 1-1000 of an inch.

By the way, make sure the tech repacks the spline, Ford shorts these on grease and there is usually dissipation of grease. That also can cause the vibration.

Good advise……if you can find a shop that can spin the wheel/tire on the truck, it makes for a noticeably better balance. You are balancing all the rotating mass. You for obvious reasons you can only do the front.
