Another question concerning gen/alt.

The thread concerning Gen/Alt conversion was getting so long I was afraid this would just be lost. My question is: Is there a fuse block that converts the 12V back to 6V so as to avoid dammage to the heater and wiper motors and the light bulbs, but still uses 12V to charge the battery and start the truck? If so, where is this avail? Thanks!

It might be easier to look into a six volt alternator. Then you won't need a voltage reducer.

You'd need the voltage reducers, like GNW mentioned, or a 6v alternator. I've also heard of special batteries that run as 6-volt but start the vehicle with more volts. Try some forum searches to look for past posts on these...

If you have already converted to 12 volts negative ground, I believe JC Whitney has a voltage reducer for about 20 bucks that should work for you.

Midfifty has a voltage reducer for the gauges and another for the heater and wiper motors. (P 52 in the current catalog). Change the bulbs to 12 v units. It will be nicer with brighter bulbs, anyway.
