I was at Advanced auto on my lunch just messing around, and i saw some rolls of window tint. They were fairly inexpensive. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this and how it came out. Are there any tips i should no before I attempt it. I want it to look nice WITHOUT BUBBLES. One more question. What is the legal limit for windo tint in NC. I can go to the Inspection site but i just thought i would throw it out there on FTE to save a little gas and time.
Well, you will probably get bubbles. I did it on my first truck, and as many times you try to smooth it out, they still show up. The profesionals use soapy water to stick the film to the windows, and it leave not streaks, or bubbles.
You should have any porblems with the law if you do it on the rear windows (limit might be 5%{limo tint}). But if you do it on the passenger/driver and front then that might be an issue.
I had a friend who does it for a living stand beside me and guide me step by step and mine still had a couple small bubbles, only 3 and I did 4 windows. He thought that was good for the first time I'd done it, so experience is a big factor.
Also here's a link to a site that has the limits for all 50 states, I think it's current (the legend's at the bottom).
