ok i had a cd player with 4 speakers put in about a month ago and when i got my pick up back my dash lights wern't workin and its been driving me crazy ever since how do you fix this problem i have a 1979 f-150 4x4
They probably pulled a wire during the install. Check the wiring. You will need a schematic which are available in the CD OEM service manuals available from the online store.
I had the same problem with the truck i bought. The truck already
had a radio installed. It turned out they hooked up both wires the the origonal plug.Ford OEM radios needed both wires to be hooked up.I put my ground to the dash gound and hooked up only one wire to the ignition switch i don't remember the color code of hand and ran a direct wire to the silenod for constant power.Give this a shot it might help..
If they hooked up the factory light blue wire on the factory plug for the radio, unhook it. It is for the dash lights and usually isn't used on an aftermarket stereo.
You should be able to look under the dash behind the radio to see.

I just had a pioneer cd player put in I went to have it put in dash lights worked. I got it back they didnt. I checked the fuse's, all the other lights work I dont know if they forgot a wire or somthing like that, anyone know what the problem could be? if so could you tell me how to fix it cause it drives me nuts haha and yes I checked older posts about the dash lights got a headache now lol
oh sorry about that i forgot i posted once about it.
Ive never took apart my dash before so Im not sure what wires are what, could someone be more specific?
Its been a little while since I dealt with dash lights, but I believe If you pull the dash out and the dimmer switch out (for ease of working), you can trace the wire from the dimmer switch to the dash...this will at least give you a point to start..If you have power there, look at the back of the dash.Ive had a bunch of problems with dash lights in the past, and its usually a pretty easy fix once you get it out and start chasing power..
