I recently wrote a post about how i wanted to make me 96 F-150 sound like a V-8 with straights. I recentl put on a flowmaster
40 series muffler with dula exhaust. I think it sounsd ok except for the fact that when the engine gets into the upper range it sorta sounds like a ricer. Some one suggested installing aCifford Shorty header another person suggested using resonator tips on my exhaust pipes. Ive found the headers but not the tips i was wondering where i can find the tips. I know the headers will soundn nice but i want ot know how nice
Any suggestions
I dont know how much difference the brand of header makes, but I put on a cheap set of turbos after a hedman header and got the same results. it sounds great until it gets to about 2600rpm. then it sounds like I should be fast and furious. haha. Im just not sure that you can get it to sound good in the upper range. kinda sucks. but from what I hear your not making much power up there anyway so keep it down low. good luck I will be interested to see if anyboy has a resolve.
well considering most headers use a 3/3 set up its like having 2 small 3 cylinder cars...if there was a way to balance the exhaust out u'd be able to get a better sound. but i know mine sounded ricey when i was on it...then i cut off my tail pipe and added a dump, much much better
Put a 2" balancing tube between the two hedder collectors. Single exhaust with the y-pipe before the muffler don't sound bad. The balancing tube equalizes the exhaust pulses and you get a better tone.
its hard to make a six sound like an eight without changeing the cam , however , you can make it sound like either an 'indy car' or a mild V10, , good luck , bob
