Try running your up to date antivirus software, and then use AdAware, www.lavasoftusa.com to remove the spyware.

If Adaware doesn't do it, go to www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareblaster.html , I think thats it, and load Spyware Blaster. It should remove and help guard against harmful spyware. There is also Spyware Guard there I use all three and have been well protected.

If that web addy isn't correct, go to your search engine and just type in spywareblaster.

if you're not able to start up your computer, try starting in safe mode. then, if you have xp, do a restore to a point before you clicked on the ad.

And THEN add the above mentioned software to protect you from further attacks.

Ad-Aware will catch spyware if you have Ad-Watch with it. I have Ad-Aware with Ad-Watch running everytime i'm online with good results.

What do you mean you cannot get back on, the computer won't boot or you can't get on the net?

Have you tried loading the system disc in the hard drive to see if it boots up?

You should be able to fix the problem by using safemode as noted. Another option would be to reinstall windows on top of itself; boot from the windows CD. If you do this, be aware that you will loose your addy book in Outlook Express, all of your personal settings such as color will have to be dealt with again, and some of your other software may have to be reloaded. There is a risk that other things might be deleted but these are the ones that I recall way back when I had to do it. While reinstalling windows, do NOT format the hard drive unless you are willing to loose everything. There is a chance you may have to get into your bios setup and force the computer to boot from the CD-ROM but this is not an obstacle by any means. When done, just change the bios back to boot off the HD first.

When in yahoo chat NEVER click on any box that pops up. There are so many booters and people sending malicious codes there that it stinks. Yahoo makes a half hearted attempt at blocking this stuff, but there is no way they can keep up with the idiots.

I even went into the yahoo folders and deleted the auto update folder so I would have to update messenger when I wanted to rather than when yahoo sends one out.

If I were you, I'd get Ytunnelpro. That helps keep booters and other idiots from getting to you in yahoo chat. Plus there are a number of spy ware blockers you can get to help also. But they won't stop someone who sends a message to you, like ytunnel does.

If you are interested in ytunnel, go to www.ytunnelpro.com and check it out. It costs 17 bucks and is worth every dime. And you don't have to pay but one time and get all updates thereafter for free.
