tire pressure/oil changes !!!

hi have a 2003 6.0 power stroke, fx4, 4x4 quad cab, what should the tire pressure be at empty, no trailer, door tag says 55 front, 75 rear is that right. What is the recommended milage for oil changes, did the initial oil change at 3,500, i am now at 7,500.

If you read the manual, it states....

Oil changes for severe duty is NO LATER than 5,000 miles.

Oil changes for normal duty is NO LATER than 7,500 miles.

I to did my first change at 3,000 miles just to ensure metal particles and the like from the "build" were cleaned out with fresh oil and filters.

I personally drive a lot of highway miles and only tow a small twin axle trailer with 4-wheelers and a dirt bike on weekend. I consider myself a "normal duty" user, but I try to think about how often I have been idling, cold starts, short trips and the like.

I am changing around 6,000 miles and this leaves plenty of room if FMC were ever to try and deny a warrenty claim.

I just completed my 15,000 mile service at 12,000 miles. My manual and the FMC website says to add 6oz - 8oz of antifreeze conditioner, yet my local dealer didn't know that or recommend it since they say it is not needed since the anti-freeze is still good until 30,000 miles???

Change on or before their recommended intervals (5,000 - 7,500)

Good luck.

Donny,
If you run empty all the time, or even mostly, the 75 PSI in the rears will give you balding in the center of the tire. On my 93 250 HD 7.3, it took me two sets of tires to figure that out. Ran 55 all round and the rest of the sets wore nicely. If you load frequently, follow the door tag.

I agree with BeachBum. The oil changes seem to be critical. At least with non synthetic oil, and only the standard filter. I would change at something less than 7500 if you are an easy driver, 5000 if you romp on it all the time.

Jeff, My 6.0 book(not the regular owners guide) says the addition of F16 coolant additive is unnecessary. Also coolant changes are 100000 miles. At least that is what I swore I read. This coolant is supposed to have this additive already in it, and be good for the mileage listed. I agree with CDtruckn that you should have it checked, but I would expect that it would be OK at 12,000 miles.

also keep in mind that the injectors are driven by engine oil, as the oil breaks down it is possible to have a "misfire" because the broken down oil won't "fire" the injector off....
