2002, Lariate, 4X4, Quad cab, short bed, 122,000 miles, one owner, new tires, new brakes. Mechanic says it will need ball joints in about a year and shocks whenever we can get them. It has tow package but hasn't been used for towing. It will need nerf bars, no big deal.
Asking price is $20,000. Said they will go down to to $19,500.
same story as usual, get an oasis and carfax. look over the "buying" thread and take it from there. Price seems a little high, but that depends on where you are at.
the OASIS report can be printed by a service writer at the FORD dealership with the VIN #
do a CARFAX report www.carfax.com enter the VIN # there is a nominal charge. I bought my truck used and the dealer had already paid for the CARFAX as a sales tool for its customers, I was given a copy of it to mull over and I got to keep it when I bought the truck.
Got the Oasis report. Be in 4 times for warrenty work but not much else.
Thanks for the heads up on this report. Had heard of it but didn't know how to get one. I just called the dealership and he faxed it over right away.....
Sometimes people post things in the wrong forum as you probably know. Its
always good to be sure. Since it is the 7.3 and I just bought an 03 with the 7.3, the price sounds right.
We have the last good diesels that Ford made. Friend of mine is a service mgr at Ford dealership and he advised me to get stay away from the 6.0 PSD....too many problems even with the 06's and 07's.
