K&N Filter
K&N does make a filter to fit the 86. I have an 86 and just picked one up. Make sure to pick up the degreaser and oil kit. I did a little local checking (NAPA) and they wanted $52 for the smae exact filter. Better/cheaper to order on line.

And, if you can't find one, you may consider picking up an '87 - '93 airbox and hoses from a salvage yard. I'm sure K&N would make an application for this, since you're covering 5 years' worth of production versus 1.5 for the '85 - '86 302EFI with the valve cover mounted airbox. Something to consider, especially since you'll need it anyway if you ever decide to go with mass air. With some slight mods, the box and '87 - '93 mounting bracket / coolant & windshield reservoir are a bolt-in for the '85 and '86. I think I may have a pic that shows it in one of my galleries.....
