howdy guys. got bad ball joints in my 89 f-150. u guys know how much that'll cost me? the garage here wont get me the part so i have to go to "the city" to get it. i get the feeling the quote will be for installation too. id rather do it myself, saves money and i dont trust my truck to any mechanic but me
thanks
is it 4x4 or 2x4 and if so the ball joints for a 2wd aint that expensive, you might as well get all 4 of em though, and get the sealed ones they last longer, less dirt and grit gettin there to wear em out.
Just did mine not to long ago on a '79 4x, just under $40 for all four and they are the Spicer units (sealed as recommened above) which I've found to be the best, especially when used off-road. Might be a little more if you have adjustability for alignment built into yours?
If you have not replaced them before make sure you have something to press them in with. Spent two days using everything I could think of called my friend for help. He gave me a iron cup to use to "press" them in with in twenty minutes i was done
