Arrow Passenger Side seat

Ok ive got a new problem. The other day my passenger side seat quit sliding up after u lean it forward. I felt under there and couldnt feel anything like a spring broke or jammed into the slide. I did feel a piece of metal, like a coathanger wire, that was just laying there. It is attached to something but i cant find any other piece that it may have broke off from. I havent taken the seat out yet cause its been to cold. What makes the seat slide up when u lean it up for rear access? What could be broken? U can lean the seat up, and then put force on it and it still wont slide up, BUT u can slide the seat up with the front slide bar handle without any problems at all. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

What year did the seats start sliding forward, my 82 and 83 only hinge forward.
Could I just buy a seat from a later model and bot it too mine.
Did the floor boards change, where a later seat will not fit?
