Vibration is Back

The vibration I've been fighting in the front end is back and seems to be getting worse. It snowed (a lot) yesterday and I locked the hubs to get out of where I live. Once I hit about 45 it got really bad. It felt the same way as before I had the driveshaft rebuilt. My question is this, has anyone ever run into an experience where a driveshaft had to be lengthened with a 4" lift? It feels exactly the way it did when the machine shop told me it was bent. The only way I can think of for it to be bent again is if it isn't long enough. It never did this before the lift. The driveshaft was rebuilt with the yokes in the correct orientation so I know that isn't the issue. The machine shop I took it to has done work for me and other people I know before and it always comes highly recommended (besides the vibration seems to be getting worse, it wasn't so bad when I first got it and installed it). Could the bearings be shot in the transfer case?

Have the angle checked on your drive shaft. With a lift, the angle on the output needs to be changed a bit to reduce stress and vibration. Even with a 4in lift.

How would you change the angle on the front? I know on the back the shims take care of it, but I didn't see any way to do it on the front.

Cant say that I ahve done it myself, my truck isnt lifted. I am just going with what I have heard from others that have lifted. I can check to see if there is a certain way to do it.

I just went out and checked the angles and rotated the shaft. There's no binding and the angles look fine (at least just eyeballing them).

jd,
Are you getting any play up/down when you push/pull on the shaft?
The correct drop radius arm brackets should put the d/s at right angle.
I had very bad viberation when i installed my 4" lift in the rear because i didn't put the stock angle shims in, i did install after just driving it a few feet. I could not believe how much.
I didn't lenghten my shafts on my '79, and i have drove it hard. Not sure about your year, i wouldn't think so.
Man i bet this is about to drive you crazy.......
Might be something to try. Mark your driveshaft and remove the slipout yoke and rotate 90* and try.......Or if you know someone that has a d/s you could use........That would be my suggestion.

Also does yours have the cv joint on one end of the d/s. They are know to go south also.

They sell different * C bushings to change d/s angle.

I just went out and rotated the yoke at the transfer case 180 degrees (disconnected and rotated the yoke in the transfer case). It's still there but it seems to hit at a different speed and is not as pronounced at highway speed. I thought about rotating the front 180 degrees but my fingers are frozen enough (only 23 degrees outside, not counting the wind).

There was no play in the driveshaft up or down that I could feel or see (didn't completely trust my fingers). It doesn't have the c/v joint on the front one, went through that on the back. However I did find a place online that sells them custom made and at this point I'm thinking about it.
