Sensor Problems??
The other day my engine decided to stay open throttle on me. I shut it off and started again and it was fine, I'm wondering if the TPS would do that if its on its way out the door. It stays idling high for quite awhile, then it kicks down once it warms up good. Every now and again just after I start driving, it starts to chug a bit then it jumps up to its normal idle and all is fine. Could it be the TPS that can cause this. Other than that the truck treats me relly good, it starts with little hesitation when its minus 30 celcius out, without being plugged in. I have an 86 2.9 in an 85 shell with about 205000 kms on the motor in case you need to know.

I would check the throttle and throttle plate to make sure there not binding, then inspect/clean the IAC. The TPS is only measuring how far the throttle is open and if it reved up high something had to be letting all the air in.

Found this a couple of weeks ago http://www.mightyap.com/hammer/otlotw.htm He describes a sudden acceleration condition associated with a fluctuating idle that they eventually traced down to a bad TPS.
