hi all, first a question , then a comment - i was wondering if any one has had any experience installing the ford bronze remote starter, i have an '03 250 sd crew 5.4 and just received the kit for christmas (from a very understanding wife), however, it came with no installation instructions. i've since learned this is "normal" for ford and i have been trying to get ford to send them to me. with way too much time on the phone, and seemingly endless runarounds from tech assistance they say the info is in the mail. i , howver an a little doubtful as to if they are sending what i need., can anyone out there help ?, now a comment, although i have not posted before i have been looking at the forums and have been really impressed with the information offered when someone has a problem - keep up the great work - thanks again.
thanks, i just checked it out and it seems they may have what i need however the shopping cart at their site doesent seem to work., seems like the gods are against me on this one i guess i'll try it again later - thanks for the info !!
Well folks, I tried again and was successful in ordering the info and wiring diagram from the link suggested. Hopefully it will arrive soon and i can procede with the install. Meantime if any one has any insights or helpful hints, let me know. Thanks again to all, I'll keep you posted.
New to this site, and just read your post. I was surprised to read that you didnt get an instruction manual with your starter. I bought one for my wife for Xmas and installed it in her '01 Explorer Sportrac. It came with a very good manual, and a complete wiring color code chart. The instructions are very straightforward and you should have no trouble as long as you test every wire before you make a splice.
One word of caution though...I did find a couple of mistakes in the color code chart for my vehicle. So if you get hung up and cant find a wire, they have an excellent tech support number. If you do have to call them, you get a recording that will say that it is a dealer only line, but that is not the case. The tech I spoke with assured me that they would help anyone.
Well I finally got the time to do the install and am happy to report all went fine. Seems the reports that this install is a "pro"-only install are greatly overstated. Took about 4 hours to get everything right (i can't stand sloppy wiring!). just wanted to thank everyone who responded to my questions........Thanks.
