this must be spread to the world if it hasnt already i bought a 1990 xlt 5.8 aod tranny a few months ago no rot none. now i live in new england and for you who live around new england you know fords rot to hell and at a rate faster than light. i had to ask the previous owner what he did to keep it on such good condition and he told me . it is so easy you have to try it . first point out the major rot spots as many of you must know it is the rear wheel wells the bottom of the rear quarter and the bottom of the tail gate. take and mix regular greese in a tube and black oil if avalible if not use high dense motor oil. nix it till it will spread easy but stay nice and sticky. take a paint brush and cover under your wheel well and quarter take the cover off the tail gate and coat the bottom good and o yea i almost forgot the bottom of the doors too just pop the inside panle off real easy. this stopps all moister from getting stuck on the body. this only has to be dont every 5 years or so and dont forget to wash the mud from under the rear of the body after playing in a swamp.
hmm, interesting. You can just spray a coating, like rinolining in there instead of greas.
But, from hwhat I have seen, chibbies rot faster. Atleast our doors don't come off at 100,000 miles.
My dad sold his 93 surburban after 130,000 miles cause the doors started moving, cause GM tack welds there hinges on rather than boting them, like other companys.
