Hey folks. Having an intermittent problem with the transfer case on my 01 f 250 cc 7.3. Posted in off road/4x4, but got no response. Please help.

Had problems with the auto/manual hubs. Swapped em out with Warn's and plugged the vacuum line going to the hubs. Anyway, sometimes the transfer case doesn't engage. 2x this has happend to me in the snow. Turn the **** to 4 hi, and I get nothing. I know the hubs are locked, but the "4x4" light on the dash doesn't come on, and I just spin my rear wheels. 1st time, I got under the truck and banged (gently) the switch? on the transfer case, and it went into 4x4. Shrugged it off. 2 weeks later, same thing. Banged on the switch, and nothing happend. Pulled the connector on the switch, but it was clean. Sprayed wd in there anyway. Put the truck in od and set the parking brake. Got under truck and banged some more. Nothing. Tried rotating the front driveshaft cw and ccw. I could only rotate it about 5 degrees, but then I thought I heard something from the t-case. Truck was in 4x4 again. Light in dash was lit and I made it up the driveway. Haven't had a problem since. Been working well.

I need to trouble shoot this. Switch on dash? Switch on t-case that puts it in 4x4? Any thoughts on what I should do?
