Ranger Bed Tent

I received one of these for a Christmas present from my wife.

http://www.fordaccessories.com/produ...id=456&dept=15

I love camping and I had seen one of these in the Ford Accessories catalog at the dealership. Well, she got me one for a gift. Has anyone used one of these? If so, does it get good marks? Is it sturdy in a storm? Is set-up and take-down relatively easy and quick? I just wondered if I might be able to get some feedback from anyone that had used one.

It's gonna be a couple months before I have a chance to actually use it in the field - though I'm gonna do a test setup soon.

Does it look like this one? That is pretty darn cool, if you ask me!

I never used one myself but I sure wouldn't hesitate. I'd also like to hear about anyone's experience with it.

P.S. Make sure you tell your wife that she did a great job on the gift!

I like the idea. Will it fit in a step-side bed?

I think I would only use it for say an overnight trip where I wouldn't be carrying alot of cargo. Most of my trips are dispersed camping and at least 5 days long, so I load up the bed.

The only bad part of it, is that you have to unload all your stuff onto the ground to sleep in it.

The good part, is that you are more insulated from the cold ground, and it looks like if you close the tailgate, you might afford yourself a little more protect from some of the smaller animals.

If you only had enough stuff such that it could be in the tent along with you and whoever else needs to sleep in it, could you set up the tent, pack your stuff in, and then drop the tent and tie it down on top of the stuff so you don't have to unload the bed each night? It would also protect the stuff for the drive.

I've posted a couple pics of the tent setup on my truck. So, it does fit on a Flareside. It take about 10-15 minutes to get all setup. With an air matress, the thing is very functional; it's a one person tent in my case (because of the step-side bed), but very cool just the same. No more finding and clearing a spot on the ground for ME!

The pics are in my gallery.
