I just got a 87 big bronco and it was in an accident which made the body come apart from the frame. Only in the front two joints. I saw that there was some rust around the frame holes which probably reswulted in the body to come out. I'm wondering what is all involed in replaing the bolts and rubber couplings and if I should be woried about the minimal rust around the frame holes?
Well, talking from experience, I would say that these mounts are a somma Bit!@ to replace. Understand that these mounts are 15 years old and are most definitley rusted on.
There are bolts that mount the body mounts to the frame which are located underneath the mount itself. Most of the time, these bolts are rusted on and have to be cut out.
Then, once the bolts are losened and/or removed, the body has to be jacked up from the frame thus allowing you to replace the body mounts.
Most of your time is going to be cutting the bolts out. I might be wrong, but i belive there are 8 body mounts total in your truck. 2 under the radiator support, 2 on each side by each wheel and 2 by the rear bumper.
PB Phabulos blaster sold in auto zone i swear by it eats rust breaks bolts and for the tough one spray a day or 2 in advance ...( few times a day if possible)

There are 10 body mounts total, I know, I just pulled the body off my 83, thise past weekend.
2 core support
2 front floor board
2 back passenger floor board
2 middle of the cargo area behind the back seat.
2 on the edge of the truck, right infront of the tailgate.
I just installed new cab mount bushings on my truck. The problem was not the bolt's and getting them un-done, It was the the bushing insert that was a problem. They are pressed in and you have to get a punch and bang them apart with a B.F.H. the ones located on the floor board under the dash had to be cut. But if the bushings are in good shape still you might get lucky and not have to deal with the inserts. Make sure you replace all damaged bolts with a high strength steel or S/S nuts and bolts.

The steel support that the rubber bushing sits on, and bolts through is rusted around the inside (hole). I have some big body washers, instead of grinding the mount off and replacing the support bracket. I was thinking about using my hardened steel body washers Sounds easier
The hole where the bolt goes threw the bushings, the male and female parts of the 2 piece bushing was rusted away on mine. But those two pieces bottom out on each other and prevent you from smashing or crushing the bushing when trying to torque to 70 FTLBS, 50 for the front radiator support. I inserted a piece of heavy wall stainless pipe threw the stock washers with the rusted bushing inserts cut off. I needed one that was in good shape to know how long to cut the pieces of pipe. The body on top kept the pipe in place, and a smaller washer on the bottom kept it in place so I could get factory torque spec's and not crush the new bushings. Ford wanted $25 for the bottom insert and $40 for the top, times 10 = A SHxT load of money.
