hey guess, i got the a 88 bronco with electric 4x4 and here is my problem.
It seems that when driving the auto trans is in gear, it likes to stay in gear, and it wont shift until much higher RPM's. I am a pretty decent around cars so im not scared to go tearing into stuff. Any ideas? It does this all the time, hot cold, everytime, keeping the trans in 1st then shifting it into 2nd via the auto shifter still doesnt help it that much, how is the tranny controlled and told when to shift? - when it does shift, it shifts fine, its just way to high in the rpm band - around 5k. So once again, any ideas? Thanks guys!
Alan
forgot to add this is only on the 1-2 shift , the 2-3 and 3-4 are great!
1-2 and 2-3 shifts are controlled by engine vacuum/RPM via the vacuum modulator. One quick check of the vacuum modulator involves simply checking the vacuum line from the transmission to the intake manifold for ATF.
3-4 and TCC lockup are electronically by the PCM via two electrical solenoids in the valve body.
oh, the trans was just rebuilt, and the 2-3 shift's fine, checked that and no ATF fluid, however, i saw a post on all data about a delayed 1-2 up shift being caused by not putting a spring back into a governor, any idea with this governor, I'd certainly like to find it, here is a picture, thanks!!
