You all seem to have it easy with your pvc valve being on the side and all. I have A 98 Ford Explorer EB 5.0L V8 and my pvc valve is located behind the engine and is hard to get to. Yet with the Spark plugs, All of the ones on the right side where real easy to get to once I took off my wheel and removed the cover. I have 8 of them to chnge. I'm still trying to find out how to get to my PVC valve yet I don't know how to locate it.

I have a 98 2 wheel drive 4.0 SOHC Explorer Sport.

The PVC valve is on the passenger side between the firewall and the passenger side of center to the intake manifold. It is not in the valve cover. It sits in a formed rubber tube that leads down to somewhere, most likely the crankcase but I didnt follow it. The tube points up toward the bottom of the hood. The PVC sits in the tube. The PVC doesnt look like the replacement. The replacement for my model had a single upright attachment point for a tube. The original sits in this rubber tube and then had another fitting that goes on top that splits the top of the PVC into two fittings. From each fitting runs a rubber tube to each side of the intake manifold. The tubes attach up beneath the large upper manifold tubes. There are no pictures because it is best to visualize this with the intake manifold removed. I found it the other day while replacing the bottom intake manifold o rings. Now that I know where it is I could do again by only removing the tops shield. Best bet is to look for two (one each side) 3/8 (I think) hoses coming off the intake manifold and running toward the firewall. They will come around the back of the engine and attach to a "Y" type fitting that is pushed onto the top of the PVC.

Regarding spark plugs. I changed out the rear plugs by going through the wheel well. I had to remove the rubber splash guard and by using regular tools - that would mean extensions of various sizes, universal joints, etc. It was a pain but possible.
I replaced them with Bosch plugs and they didnt last very long. My advice only use Autolites of the type recommended.

Happy hunting.
