*pinging* noise consistent with ground speed
It's a 1986 Bronco XLT 4x4 that recently started making a 'pinging' noise that is consistent with the speed of the truck while accelerating. When you let off the gas or reach a constant speed it goes away. It does it in the front, mostly when the manual hubs are locked. I replaced both hubs and the problem persists. The noise seems to go away when in 4-L. The noise is the same sound as when you tap the drive shaft with a screwdriver handle. I found where an electrical connector was rubbing on the drive shaft and relocated it thinking it was making the noise. This didn't help either.
