I do lots of stuff. I just started as a HVAC contractor part time for the local hardware store, I have a full time job for a timber company running various types of logging equipment during the winter, have my own farm and three rental houses.

I am also a member of operating engineers local 139 and run heavy equipment in the summer.

In additon to all these jobs I also hold a class A CDL with hasmat and I have on ocassion hauled propane, gas, explosives, and wood for various companys.

I feel even though I work long hours I have built a good life for my self. I have accomplished all this and will turn 22 in march. Granted I have worked at least one full time job since I was 16. I plan to retire at about age 50 or at least semi retire.

What ever you choose to do make sure you enjoy it, and work hard. This year my take home pay will be about 80 grand combined between my jobs it may be better but with the whole mad cow scare has threatened to take most of the profits from my farm so I dont include that income in there. I will reinvest most of it into paying off my farm and rental houses.

What ever you do take some of each pay check and put it in the bank, it dosent have to be much but over time it will add up.

I'm 24 and feel 50. Right out of high school I worked as an industrial electricians apprentice for 3 month. Left there to go to vocational school for certification in industrial motor contols and he filled the job he was holding for me. From there, I went to work in a factory operating a foam rubber extrusion line for 2 years. Got laid off from there and went to work doing Tech support for an internet service based out of maryland, it went belly up in 6 months and so I went to work in insurance where I still am.

I said that also.
But I basically grew up around them.
My mother worked out there for years and years. I got a job out there as soon as I turned 18 workin in the Laundry department bringing out fresh towels/sheets, etc to them
I got laid off because State budget didnt allow any more Extra Help positions (I wasnt full time down there yet)
But they could put me in my spot, fulltime making more money.
Kinda of weird, but I love it.
It has its days and risks, but its worth it to me

I am a senior Cad draftsman for a concrete company. (I'm only 19). I am going to school part-time to at least earn my associates degree in Civil Engineering. Then I will take over as project manager. Basically I will handle sales, the drafting "department" (all two-threee drafters), engineering, scheduling, trucking, etc.

I took Drafting class in highschool. Got this job as a drafter and was offered a college education and my bosses job when he retired. Totally unexpected. I love my job, and I want to stay here until I retire.

Worked as a mechanic for about 10 years (I am GM cert but drive fords, whats that tell ya) decided i didnt want to do that for ever so I started working on one of my hobbys. Started a job with Motorola and stayed there 5-6 years but with Cell phones , Nextel and the like 2 way radio was not looking so secure. Got a job with one of the major cellular companies as a technician and am still there. If your into technology its a good place to be as things are always changing, good job security and its a little different every day.

I work for a company that designs and services high speed mail extraction and sorting equipment. Been here for 15 years this Feb.
Have had many different positions, from Technician to Production Manager. Currently work in service Engineering group. We take care of all Mechanical, Electrical, and some software related problems on all of our machines. Use Mechanical Desktop for 3D design work.
Something new everyday plus have ongoing projects.
Can honestly say I enjoy coming to work everyday! Great place to hang your hat in the morning......
