When I took delivery of my 250 SD the dealer tried to sell me an anti theft device. The pitch was that insurance required them to have alarms on all the vehicles on the lot and for an extra $600.00 they would leave it on. I said no thank you very much. Before they gave me the truck they took it in the back and unplugged and removed a box that was accessible from under the dash. At least that’s what I think they did as the salesman looked under there to confirm that it had the device. My assumption is that it was a factory part that plugged into the stock harness or a docking plug. I was also told that it was just basically just a kill switch.
If in fact they could remove it in a few seconds couldn’t a thief do the same?
Does anyone here have any experience with this “ kill switch”?
Is it a factory part? If so what does the part cost? (it sure wouldn’t be $600.00)
Inquiring minds need to know.
I just installed an alarm on Ford F-350 which had that plug that is used ont he lots. All it is when the plastic plug is in place it closes the igigtion power to the starter relay. When it is removed it is open and your starter doesn't get power.
