Installing after market radios
I received good information on this website about a problem I fought for a long time and have isolated it to the source. I had this chime problem that dinged for about 25 seconds after I exited the truck. I forgot who, but some kind Ranger owner asked me if I had an after market radio installed. It had one when I bought the truck. The original radio is tied into the GEM anti-theft circuit. There are three ways I can resolve this problem. 1. Rewire the power to the radio to a non-switched source. 2. Leave the power to the radio on when I switch off the ignition....This is the easy way. 3. Rewire the anti-theft circuit as it was originally...Not sure how to do this as I have found several wires that were capped off with insulators. Just thought I would alert those people, who have after market radios, if you now have a chime alarm problem.
