93 F150, 5.0 automatic 4x2. Ok now that we got what it is out of the way. Going down the road, it "hesitates and jumps", when going up a hill it doesnt matter if its to the floor, it wont get over 40. Same thing with going into the wind, it doesnt matter if its to the floor it wont go over 40. On a calm day it still hesitates and stuff, but it will get over 40 as long as its not in the hills. Ford replaced the fan clutch, and was suppose to replace the fuel pressure regulator cause it was a recall. If they did, i dont know. They was also suppose to replace the engine temp. control sensor. The cats have been removed, and the O2 sensor unplugged from the exhaust. When taking off from a stop, It wants to die if u dont give it enough gas. Dad says he hears the valves knocking but i dont hear anything of the sort. Anybody know whats wrong or what we can check next? All suggestions are welcomed. The only other thing i can think of to check is the fuel pump or filter. Ford was suppose to put it on the computer, but they didnt.
ps. weve changed the dizzy, plugs and wires and checked the timing. It drinks gas like its free, has gone down to about 5 mpg.

first off you need to plug your o2 sensor back in, this is how the computer controls how rich/lean the motor is. what was your timing set at? should be 8 or 10* at btdc also replace your fuel filter. when you put your plug wires on are you sure they are in the correct firing order? also drop by an auto parts store they can check for codes for free and give you an idea of whats happening.
Kemical, even without the cats, would the O2 sensor make it do this? Im not sure what the timing is, parents took the truck to some local mechanic here in town to get the tune up done. He said he checked the timing and it was set right. When it is just sitting still and ideling, it seems to run fine. Just when its moving is when it runs like crap. Also parents say they here a knocking or pinging noise when they are driving it, i have yet to hear this noise. I dont hear it when im standing outside the truck, or when im riding in the truck. I dont believe its the valves clattering or the lifters knocking, since those are usually heard pretty good. Any other suggestions, and do u think i should still plug the sensor back in? Could that be what is causing it to hesitate going down the road and drinking so much gas?
He has it right. How is your computer going to know what the AFR is without the O2 sensor? That sensor has nothing to do with the cats. You may have other problems also, but hook up that O2 sensor first!
Then if it still has the same problem, replace the fuel filter.
