It should have clear coat and the best way to keep it shiny is either a high carnauba wax product if you enjoy working hard, or use Champion's Choice which has no wax at all. I use the latter on my boats, cars and trucks.
My father-in-law restores antique cars and he only uses polish, no wax. For clear coats he recommends Race Glaze Polish and Sealant, they use it on all their antique cars. It's what all the good detial shops and body shops use. It can only be purchased at CarQuest, NAPA and autobody paint stores.
Race Glaze is the ONLY product I will use on any of my vehicles. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I used to detail for dealerships and I was able to make thousands using this stuff.
If you want a great shine and not a lot of elbow grease to buff it off......
Also consider Zaino polish - pretty widely know and recognized as a superior polish/protectant. It lasts a very long time (unlike any carnuba based wax), is easy to apply, and produces a very high gloss shine.
www.zainostore.com if you are interested in checking it out. You could also do searches on "Zaino" with Google, in other auto detailing message boards, etc - you will see that, in general, it is very highly regarded.
