This is a great site!!!! I commend all of you for passing on your PSD knowledge. I've read just about all your post concerning the 6.0 L. At first I said whe the hell did I get my self into here. Like some of you all said, " just roll with it".
I just bought a 04 F250 XLT, 6.0L auto, 4x4, CC, short box. So far I love it. Traded in a 00 F150. Needed a bigger puller, the wife wants a TT in the near future. So..... I got the new toy to match my 03 Road King Classic.
By the info you all have put out I should be ok with the truck;
build
truck 10/03 door post
engine 10/03 driver valve cover
Just about 700 miles so far, mostly just back and forth to work, checked the mpg(not that it matters) 14.3 mpg.
Only diesel knowledge I have is dealing with military trucks and tanks. Question........... I've read the manuel. Just wanted to get it from those that are using the equipment.
Is there a proper warm up time?
Cool down time?
The old M60 tank had a turbo V12 and had a warm up / cool down period. 'As does the M1A2, but it's a turbine.
Moblie is the oil of choice as I have read?
Fuel is a concern, I have no truck stops in the local area. I have a Phillips 66, Chevron, Shell and Diamond Shamrock. Any of these better then the others.
Looking to get the guages, exaust and the rest as time goes on. Limited budget on a soldiers pay.

For a TT may I sugest a toy box trailer so you can haul that Road King with ya when you go camping.
Thats the reason I got the 6.0 so that I can haul that camper of mine with a 850 lb bike in it.
Can't wait to hooker up and head to laconia NH in june.
Congrats on the truck AND the bike
and thank you for your service to our country
I think if I was running down the highway pulling a boat or trailer and pulled off in a rest stop, I would give it about two minutes for temperatures to stabilize before I shut it off. I used to fly and all the aircraft (helicpters) required a two minute cool down, recip or turbine, before shutting them off.

Always a good idea, cars, trucks, boats, planes, whatever....
I think I read something about cool down in the owners manual. I've heard that after running hard the turbo may be as hot as 1200 Degrees F and If your shut down to soon the oil on the turbo bearings burns out and dries up.
Originally posted by Exchevman I have to admit that I was babying my 03 PSD F350 CC Lariat, until I read the above quote.
Yeah, last night I took it out and did just that, drove it like I stole it.
Had this huge smile on my face all night long!
That is a big problem getting the smile off your face; when your hanging around your friends they keep, thinking it is about sex.........not a truck.
Can you imagine the only two things in life that would put a smile on a mans face……truck……sex……….sex……truck………who would have ever thought that possible....only the wives
