I know everyone said don't go with Hypertech, but.... my home is just down the road from them, and they are friendly and all......

So I have a factory programmed for me hypertech, that has done some wonderful things to my truck, not least a confirmed 21.1 MPG highway. So I am a happy camper - I have no clue if this powerstroke will do the 3000 mile loss of fuel economy so common with others, or if I get to keep the good fuel economy. The performance is somewhat improved too - I could have got better, with a different vendor's programmer, but I wanted now, not later, so I went with the local one, and am impressed. I will let you all know how it goes, on it's imminent 1400 mile towing marathon. The trailer is only a small one, with no weight to speak of, so I may get good mileage all the way. I hope so.

Hey preacher
welcome to the "PSD rules over all club." One question though. I thought that as our motors "break-in" we actually get better mileage. Where did you hear about the 3000 mile thing? just curious.

Drew.

This F250 is my 2nd Powerstroke, and probably not my last - I love 'em. The 3000 mile observation came from many owners who had fuel economy drop off at that time. I never did with the F450, so I am hoping it is fiction. If I can get better mileage than 21.1 I will be a very happy guy. The F450 gets 18 if I'm lucky, more often 16.8.

I don't know theologian, mine has just under 3000 miles now. At under 1000 miles all I could get was 15.1. Once I got over 1000 miles, it jumped to 16.1, 16.4, 16.5, 16.6, 16.7. Then as it is now approaching 3000 miles, it has dropped to 16.3. I drive 70% highway and 30% in town. I have yet to stretch it out on the highway. I hope it does not continue its downward turn in mpg. I have not towed anything substantial yet, so I can assume it will be worse with a load.

Let us know which way your mileage goes.

mileage now at 8,000, fuel now steady at 19.8 highway, 14.5 rural, 12.8 urban. that is unloaded, not towing. I probably will not be towing anything for a few months, so I will have to wait for those figures. One thing I want to know is why does the message center make such wild claims. According to it, my truck does an amazing 24.5 mpg. The message center in my Lincoln is right on the button, with 22.4 so I know that such things can be accurate.

And I now have internet service again, so I can catch up with the board.
