Diesel van purchase, help please

I am looking at a 2001 July E350 diesel extended Ford van that apparently sat around Fords offices until now and only has 500 miles on it.
Tell me please if the sitting around will be a problem for the diesel.
Is the cackel problem relevant to this van?
any things that I particularly need to look for on this model?

Any help would be appreciated
