This may be a stupid question, but, here goes------ My forward gas tank leaks. Why does it continue to leak if I only put as into the rear tank? Hmmm. Stupid Question of the Day!
I believe there's a crossover check valve arrangement to prevent gasoline that's being pumped out of one tank (like from your back one) from being pumped over into the other tank (the front one) instead of all through the fuel loop. You appear to have a slow leak in this checkvalve system, so the valve leak is allowing some gas to pump into the other tank and filling it to the level of the tank hole leak. Have you noticed your gas mileage has dropped? Your front tank has most of the "missing gas" in it!
Thanks for the info.! May-be, I don't need a new tank after all. New straps would be in oder though, while I spy on this "checkvalve system". Illinois winters are tough on the underbellys. Topside is mint on my 95'.
