I told a friend of my possible oil pressure problems with a 351M and the most likely cause of my problems (which is the mains). Now, my friend is into autocross racing and old mustangs, and he tells me that he had a 351C which he ran for over a year with SEVERE botom end knock.
Finally he wrecked the car, and upon taking the engine out and tearing it down he discovered that it had no main bearings left!!
Fact, or fiction?
Has this ever happened to anyone else??
Don't get me wrong, I can't believe that this would happen unless a person left out all the mains during a rebuild. To have all your mains fail and be spit out into the oil pan while the engine still lives! Seriously!
