I have a 2002 Edge, 3.0 L, 5 speed auto that has a code D on the door pillar. Does anyone know what model it is? Is it a 4R44E or 5R44E? I want to change the filter/fluid and was also wondering if anyone has used AMSOIL synthetic (universal synthetic)
Thanks, and Happy New Year!!
Actually, I'm not 100% positive, but I believe the 2002 and newer 3.0L Rangers now come with the 5R55E tranny.
Forget about Amsoil, stick with a good "off the shelf" oil of which there are plenty to choose from. You might want to cruise through the FTE Oil & Lube Forum when you get a chance.

Well, it uses a 5-speed auto, now whether or not it's the 5R55E or 5R44E I couldn't tell you...my guess is that it will have the 5R55E just like the 4.0 motors.
