351w or 302

lookin at gettin an early 90's f-150 and didn't know whether to get one with a 302 or 351. What's the difference in power between the two. Also is there a significant amount of difference in mpg. I will put a 6 inch lift on truck and 35 bfg muds. Could a 302 still push them big tires on the highway and haul loads in the bed. Thanks.

351w would be my first choice. later

I'm with JW too go with a 351w especially since your running big tires.

351w ... that's the ticket.

Do not neglect using the appropriate gear ratio to accomodate the 35s.

Either motor will perform poorly if you run 3.50:1.0 or higher.

I'd run a 4.10 gear, with either motor.

joners --- On the mark!!!

The 4.10 will bring both motors into good rpm --- aftermarket cam and headers ... now he's pullin'.

Could you imagine that pkg. with 3.00s? Seams a lot of folks do and think aftermarket goodies are the solutions.

Gears, that's the investment that always pays off ...IMO.

im really in the market for a shortbed and ive never herd of them having 351's so i might have to go with a 302. is there any add ons to a 302 to boost the horsepower a lot.

there are shortbed trucks with 5.8 (351) motors. Might be hard to find as they were in my case, but they are out there. Later
