I just replaced 3 belts on my truck in signature. I only replaced them because one had a big chunk out of it and was cracked and I had just bought the truck so I didn't know how old the other belts were. So I thought what the heck, I'll change them. Well, all went well except a few days later I looked under my hood and my belt that goes to the power steering has flipped! So, I thought, oh well, MAYBE I didn't put it tight enough. So I tightened it up and went on my way. Next day I looked again and it flipped again?!?! Weird. The belt sticks up a spec out of the power steering pulley. So I was thinking maybe I need to get a factory belt because maybe it will seat more flush? Also, all m pulleys are lined up and all is good. I just think it's the belt.
Thats odd, I don't think I have heard of a belt flipping over. I am interested in finding out what the cause would be. Good luck getting it all lined out, later
I have seen it happen before make sure their tight and check your pulley alignment. Its also possible you have the wrong belt or theres a bad spot in the belt.
I don't think I do. The old belt was perfectly fine and worked except it had cracks in it. I thought I mine as well replace all three. I think it's because the belt sticks out of the power steering pulley a spec. It sticks up about 1/8 of an inch. And it's not that thick of a belt in the first place. I will keep you guys updated.
That's what I am thinking. Stupid Canadian Tire. Guess I will have to go to the dealership. Figures, it's the very back belt so I have to take ALL the belts off to replace it! DOH!
Well, I looked at it again today. I guess it did look like my power steering pulley was of a spec. So I kind of adjusted it a bit. I put the old belt on and started the truck up. It flipped again. So I adjusted it a bit more. Started the truck up and it came off! It even took the other 2 belts with it! So, my dad has a box of belts and I found one that would fit on. I put it on and it worked. The belt is exactly the same. Weird. Maybe the old belt was screwed up and not straight from driving it for so long while it was flipped. I guess I will see what happens.

P.S. I was "tapping" on my smog pump to loosen the belt and when I hooked the belt back up and started the truck back up it is making a kind if ticking noise (the smog pump is making the ticking noise). Any ideas? I am "allowed" to hijack my own thread!
He's saying that the serpentine belts are sooo much better. I agree. I changed 2 serpentine belts on two different trucks in like 8 minutes. So much easier. Mmmmmmmmm...serpentine belts. I will let you know about that air pump. Kinda has me frustrated........Thanks guys!
