I havent actually checked to see how much voltage is going to it, I just used my test light to find a wire that was hot in start and run. I don't have the white wire hooked up yet, just taped it off for now. I'll check out the voltage on the red wire, thanks guys.

For the 12 volt source, I used the white wire with the blue stripes. Using a voltmeter, it tested out to 12 volts on cranking and run. I used a solderless blade connector and plugged it into the male plug prong that corresponds with the white with blue stripes. On my truck, that particular plug was not being used. Everything is working fine.
